Hello and welcome aboard the Poetry Express!
Here, we have a wealth of free resources to aid your pupils’ learning. Our main resources focus on writing poetry, fiction and non-fiction, but we do have quizzes, games and other activities to ensure a cross-curricular learning adventure!
Not only will the resources be regularly added to, but the Poetry Express is an excellent web-based learning resource for pupils. Whether they board the Poetry Express at home or at school you can be assured their language skills will be developed as well as their enthusiasm for writing in general.

We are very excited to tell you that coming later in 2010 is Poetry Passport Control, which will help pupils with their Modern Foreign Languages KS2 studies (French, German and Spanish). Be sure to watch this space!
We welcome your comments and feedback and look forward to hearing from you.
Happy teaching!
Entry Forms
Home Address Information
Home address information is requested because our editorial schedule often coincides with school holidays, causing
problems with delivery of both copyright information and book orders. Before providing this information however, we recommend that parental consent is obtained. We do accept entries with only school addresses provided.

Editorial Policy
Young Writers’ aim is to encourage children to read, write and enjoy poetry. Our editorial team take a range of criteria into account when selecting poems: perception, imagination and the ‘spirit’ of the poem are given as much importance as expression, interpretation of poetry and good use of language. The age of the young writer is also taken into consideration along with any learning difficulties we are made aware of. The young writer’s name, age and school are printed alongside their poem selected for publication.
Upload your Poems
Currently, we can only offer uploading of single poems at a time. We recommend this option if you are only uploading a handful of poems. To do this, simply fill in the form below and click on 'upload poem' to attach the work. Please ensure your pupil's name, age, contact address (home and / or school) and school name is on the bottom of each poem before you upload it.
If you have multiple entries to upload, we suggest emailing them to
teachers@thepoetryexpress.com.
You can attach the work as a single Word document with all the poems in or as multiple single pages. This is a quicker, more convenient way to uploading each poem separately. When sending bulk entries please ensure your pupils' name, age and contact address (home and / or school) is at the bottom of each poem before you send them. Also, include your name and the school contact details in the email. If this information is provided, as requested, it means we do not require either the school or pupil entry forms to be completed when emailing.
We will confirm receipt of entries that are uploaded or emailed to us.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
